Worship
On Sunday, we gather in order to worship God as he has commanded us to do.
Teaching
As a part of our worship service we will also look at a passage from scripture together. We believe that God wants us to teach the whole counsel of God. Our sole authority in matters of life and salvation is the Word of God. We have a mid week Bible study once a week on Friday at 7 p.m. We have a day of prayer and fasting once a month. Please get in touch for further details.
Fellowship
We also have a time of getting to know other people in our community. We have fellowship meal together after every service (Indian and Pakistani cuisine).
Statement of Beliefs
JESUS CHRIST
The Bible teaches that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, existing in perfect unity with the Father and the Holy Spirit, and that faith in him is the only thing that can save us. We want everyone to know Jesus Christ as he really is, so that by knowing him we might love him, and loving him, enter into his joy forever.
OUR PRIORITIES
Our church is shaped by our priorities of love and faithfulness towards God. Here’s why:
WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS
The Bible tells us what love is. God says that love is faithfulness to him in what we believe, and what we do. This is made clear in the Old Testament: ‘I command you today to love the LORD your God, to walk in his ways, and to keep his commandments, his statutes, and his judgements’ (Deuteronomy 30:16). And in the New Testament, Jesus says: ‘If you love me, keep my commandments’ (John 14:15). Our love for Jesus will be shown by our willingness to do what he says.
CHRIST’S PRIORITIES FOR THE CHURCH
Jesus cares most of all about whether our church loves him and is faithful to his Word. We see this in Revelation chapters 2-3. Jesus highlighted some characteristics by which true churches can be known. The overarching one is love (John 13:35). This will be seen in loving attitudes and holy affection for one another (Rom 16:16), telling the truth (Eph 4:5), and practical care (James 2:14-17). The true church will also proclaim Christ by the faithful preaching of the Word, and the right administration of the sacraments (baptism and the Lord’s Supper). Finally, much like a loving family that upholds the right boundaries, there is church discipline. The Westminster Confession of Faith serves as an excellent summary of the basic system of truth revealed in the Scriptures.
WHO WE ARE
We were started in 2016 and we seek to be a blessing to our community and connect with other Asian people in the greater Newcastle and Gateshead area. Everyone is welcome. Pastor Hanooq Yaqub leads the Asian Christian Church Newcastle. Our church is a Gospel-centered, Christ-exalting, and grace-filled community of believers.
Most members are refugees who are slowly settling into British culture and rebuilding their lives. We give thanks to God that our members have gradually grown in numbers. Some of our members in the past were not able to discern between the Biblical reformed teaching and non-biblical teaching, but now I can see the work here has led to both spiritual growth and increased discernment. However, we would like to reach out to more people who have not yet heard of Christ and the gospel. We need your prayers and encouragement to carry out the Gospel ministry. Your help and support will be much appreciated. If you’d like help please follow the links on the giving page. Thanks!
I was brought up in Pakistan. God’s Holy Spirit gave me a new heart and I accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as my personal Saviour. My wife and I came to the United Kingdom in 2009. God has given me a faithful and godly wife. We have been blessed with our daughter Eliana.
We moved from London to Newcastle in 2016. God laid a burden on my heart to plant an Asian fellowship. He is using me as an empty vessel in His kingdom for the preaching of the word. I started this fellowship with one person and then the Holy Spirit gradually brought more people to join our fellowship. Now we are in good strength and we give thanks to God for his providence and love. We worship God in our own languages, Urdu and Hindi.
We are a loving group and would like to invite you to come and join our fellowship for the praise and worship of God.
